GSB Acero SA is a private company primarily engaged in the manufacture of basic iron and steel products and of ferro alloys. The company was established in 1993 as the result of the merger of Acerías y Forjas de Azcoitia and Patricio Echeverría Aceros. The company has a registered office located in Azkoitia, Spain. GSB Acero develops and produces a broad range of specialty steel. The company's corporate objectives are to significantly increase flexibility and reduce lead time to access new direct clients. GSB Acero SA has established a strategic partnership with Accenture to help it define the business model for such a transformation - and to deliver the new technological information system and business processes. As a result, Accenture has transformed the company's information technology processes and delivered the specialty steel industry's first implementation of SAP, which Accenture tailored for the company's specific needs. GSB Acero became the first in its industry segment to leverage SAP technology and it gained a significant competitive advantage over industry rivals. GSB Acero SA is globally owned by Banco Santander Central Hispano (also known as Santander Central Hispano Group), the leader in the running of Spanish banks. It offers retail banking and consumer finance in Spain, Portugal, and other parts of Europe. Through other subsidiaries, it offers asset management, private banking, corporate and investment banking, and insurance. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Corporacion Sidenor S.A., a private company which is involved in the manufacture and marketing of iron/steel products, the provision of management consultancy, and the management of real estate. The company has two plants, which is 18 km apart, one in Azkoitia and the other in Legazpi, Spain.
